About the
SoloStage Festival
Hosted by the ettc, a non-profit dedicated to intimate storytelling, our inaugural SoloStage Festival aims to prove that the smallest stage can hold the biggest worlds.
We are seeking solo performers, writers, and directors who want to challenge the boundaries of the "one-person show" and help us build a vibrant creative community in the heart of Poland.
What We Are Looking For:
We are open to all genres—from contemporary drama and comedy to physical theatre and experimental performance.
✅ Performance Length: 15-50 minutes.
✅ Technical Requirements: Minimalist/Touring-friendly (short setup times).
✅ Workshop Proposals: We highly encourage applicants to propose a workshop (between 30 minutes and 2 hours) related to their craft (acting, writing, or movement) to run alongside the festival.
The Creative Matchmaker: Build Your Monodrama
We believe that "solo" theatre shouldn't be a lonely process. If you have a powerful story but lack a director, or if you are a performer seeking a unique script, we want to help you connect.
As part of our mission to foster a creative community, we offer a "Creative Matchmaker" service for selected applicants. We can pair writers, directors, and performers within our network to help you develop a brand-new, unique monodrama specifically for this festival.
If you have a "work in progress" or just a seed of an idea, don't hesitate to apply—we’ll help you find the missing piece of your creative puzzle.
Logistics & Transparency
As a small non-profit organisation, we are committed to investing every Złoty into the quality of the festival production and promotion.
To remain sustainable, we must be clear about our current constraints, regarding:
Accommodation: We are unable to provide or fund hotel accommodation for visiting artists. Travel: Artists are responsible for their own travel to Kraków, Poland.
We DO provide: A professional performance space, full marketing support, technical assistance, a modest performance fee based on ticket splits, and an invitation to all festival social and networking events.
The "Community Host" program. For those traveling from afar, we are currently organizing a local "Host an Artist" initiative where community members provide a guest room. While not guaranteed, we will do our best to facilitate these connections for selected performers.
How to Apply
To begin your application, please fill out the form.
If you have questions please click the button below to email us.
1. Do I have to be a professional actor to apply?
While we prioritize high-quality artistic proposals, we are an inclusive community. We welcome established professionals, emerging artists, and students. The strength of your story and your vision for the performance are what matter most. 2. Is there an application fee?
No. Applying to the festival is completely free. We believe in removing barriers for artists. 3. You mentioned you can't provide accommodation. What are my options?
As a small non-profit, our budget is currently focused on production and promotion. If you are from outside Kraków, you will need to arrange your own stay. However, we are launching a "Host an Artist" initiative to pair performers with local community members who have a spare room. We cannot guarantee a spot, but we can promise we will do our best to facilitate these connections! 4. How does the "Creative Matchmaker" work?
If you have a script but no performer, or you are an actor looking for a director, mention this in your application! If we love your individual potential, we will introduce you to other selected applicants whose skills complement yours to help you create a unique monodrama for SoloStage in October.
5. Can I perform in a language other than English?
Yes! We also welcome performances in Polish or non-verbal physical theatre. However, please consider that the majority of our local audience will be Polish speakers; providing a short synopsis or using visual storytelling is highly recommended. 6. What is the financial arrangement for performers?
We offer a percentage of ticket sales (a "split" model). Plus, if you lead workshops, you will receive a percentage share of ticket sales. Details will be shared upon successful selection. 7. Can I apply with a "Work in Progress"?
Absolutely. We are a creative community, not just a receiving house. If your piece is still in development but will be ready by June, we want to hear from you. 8. I have a great piece, but it's shorter/longer than the times you've suggested. Can I still apply?
Yes. We can't promise, but please get in touch and tell us more about your piece, and we will do everything we can to enable you to perform with us. 9. I'm not a performer, can I be involved?
Yes - we would love your help! Volunteers will be a necessary (and important!) component of the success of the festival. Please get in touch.
